Cameron Norrie v Gael Monfils Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two players and both have been won by Monfils. These came in 2017 and 2019.

Having kick-started the season with six successive wins and then having added the Rio Open title to his kitty, Norrie looked to be racing away to cementing his place in the ATP Finals this season.
Unfortunately for him things haven’t looked as rosy in recent times, as he has now gone 12 tournaments without winning three successive matches. And since reaching the quarterfinal of the Queen’s Club competition, Norrie has lost four of the following five matches.
More recently, Norrie’s struggled to get going in hardcourt competitions too, losing his openers at both, the Los Cabos Open and the Canadian Masters. To be fair to him, the loss in Toronto can be blamed to a very stiff draw, with the British number one having faced Alex de Minaur in the very first round.
At the time of writing De Minaur had beaten Daniil Medvedev to make the semifinal of that tournament.
That being said, Norrie does need a bit of a shake-up in fortunes and while he is up against a player who is ranked outside the top 200, he could fine the going tough.

Monfils Coming off a Toronto Quarterfinal
With Monfils having been forced out of action because of his fitness issues, he fell to 394th on the rankings charts in late May, a ranking he had probably seen way back in the early parts of his career.
Fortunately for the Frenchman things have looked better now that he has started participating – and winning – again and he will enter this tournament on the cusp of breaking back into the top 200.
Monfils, who had made the third round at the Washington Open last week, defeated the Canadian Masters dark horse Christopher Eubanks, then stunned one of the favourite Stefanos Tsitsipas before overcoming Aleksandar Vukic in the third round to make it a rare three wins in a row.
And while he went down to Jannik Sinner it wasn’t without a fight, with the Frenchman taking his opponent to three sets.
Against Norrie, Monfils will think he has a good chance.
