Collins Posts a Huge Win
Danielle Collins, last year’s runner-up at the Australian Open, is coming off her season-best run. Competing in the Canadian Open, the 29-year-old began as a qualifier and ended up making it to the quarterfinal.
On the way, she defeated a few big names like Eugenie Bouchard, Elina Svitolina, Maria Sakkari, and Leylah Fernandez. Collins went down to Iga Swiatek in three sets but in the process, she gained some much-needed momentum and confidence.
Up until that point, Danielle had struggled to post results like these. Her single best result was the semifinal showing in Austin back in February.
Her record is now at 15-14 and ranked #48; this is also in part due to a lack of participation on the WTA Tour.
From April through to July, she featured only in four tournaments – Charleston, French Open, Wimbledon, and the Citi Open. It wasn’t the best of performance, seeing that she picked up just one win in this period.

Pavlyuchenkova Showing some Rhythm
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, former world number 11, is coming off a Challenger final run in Contrexeville. While she lost the title match to Arantxa Rus, it was her first singles final since the 2021 French Open.
2023 has been a slow, form-building year for the Russian. After a lengthy injury layoff last year, the 32-year-old has had to start afresh. By all means, she has done well for her.
Pavlyuchenkova started the season outside the top 700; she is now ranked #98. Her highlights – quarterfinal feats in Strasbourg and the French Open, and a doubles runner-up feat in Adelaide with Elena Rybakina.
All things considered, Anastasia has a rich pedigree and experience spanning over three decades. Now that she has some tempo to her game, she can very well aim for a good run in Cincinnati.
Collins v Pavlyuchenkova Prediction and Tip
