Barbora Krejcikova v Clara Tauson Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at the 2021 Wimbledon where Krejcikova won in straight sets.

Krejcikova had to retire from her second round match at Wimbledon this year because of fitness concerns and did not return to competitive tennis till the Cincinnati Open about six weeks later.
And her return to tennis wasn’t the best one as she went down to Victoria Azarenka in straight sets in the very first round there.
Well, to be fair, for a world number 12 to be drawn to face an opponent of the pedigree of Azarenka in her opener was bad enough but to do that on her return from her injury made it even tougher.
The Czech player will now take to court in a competition where she had made the second round last year on debut. She was shocked in the second by Bernarda Pera there. This time around she is up against a lucky loser in Tauson in her opener and her fitness levels could decide which way this match goes.

Tauson Shocked in the Qualifiers
While Tauson has made the main draw here, it was thanks to some luck with the Danish player having taken the place of an injured player in the draw.
This was after Tauson failed to qualify for the tournament after losing in the second round of qualifiers. While that wouldn’t have made Tauson happy obviously, there’s also a case of the 20-year-old losing to a player who is way more known for her play on clay.
Nadia Podoroska had gone into that match at 9/5 odds (with bet365) to upset Tauson and she routed her 6-3, 6-4.
Tauson herself hasn’t had a lot of time in hardcourt competitions this year with a second round exit at the Warsaw Open and a first loss in Prague being her only two previous tournaments on this surface.
