Julia Grabher v Xiyu Wang Head to Head
Grabher leads 1-0, last beating Wang in Cleveland just last week.

Julia Makes her US Open debut
Austria’s Julia Grabher will compete in the US Open main draw for the first time in her career.
Her last three attempts to do so ended in the qualifying rounds; this time, however, the 27-year-old earned a ticket to the main draw following her career-best season.
Grabher is now ranked World No. 54 – a career-high for her – following a runner-up feat in WTA Rabat and a recent ITF title from Spain. Interestingly, both pieces of silverware came on clay courts – which raises the question if she can do the same on hard courts too.
Numbers say not likely – Julia’s year-to-date record stands at 23-26, of which she has only six wins against 11 losses on concrete turfs. Such has been the case for Grabher in the preceding seasons, too – clay has always been her best-performing surface.
The Austrian last played in Cleveland, where she fell in round two to Lin Zhu.

Wang Struggling to Win
Xiyu Wang has seen better days on WTA Tour. With a singles record of 17-19 and a ranking of #84, the Chinese player is enduring one of the worst seasons of her career.
Wang’s last two tournaments – in Cincinnati and Cleveland – ended in an opening-round loss after clearing the qualifiers.
Much of her 2023 season has gone by in a similar fashion. There are only two standout tournaments for Xiyu – the Rome Open, where she made it as far as round four, and Madrid, where she made it to round three.
Unlike Grabher, Wang has shown good potential on hard and clay courts. The problem for her has been a lack of consistency. Case in point, she ended last year with a record of 41-25 – which is completely opposite to what she is going through now.
Grabher v Wang Prediction and Tip
This one is Grabher’s to lose. She defeated Wang just last week, and she has the form to do it again.
That said, this is a Grand Slam main draw where anything can happen. Julia isn’t the most in-form player on the tour. Punters who like to take risks may want to consider backing Wang on this one for a surprise profit.

- Moderate Risk Tip: Over 20.5 games: 5/6 (with bet365)
