Francisco Cerúndolo v Zachary Svajda Head to Head
Cerundolo and Svajda have never faced off before this.

Cerúndolo Hoping for Return to Miami Form
While most of Cerundolo’s successes at every level have come on clay, his performances in hardcourt competitions in the first half of the season gave some hope to the Argentine to grow as an all-round player.
There was a third round appearance at the Australian Open and he then went on to make it to the quarterfinals at the Miami Masters as well, losing only to Felix Auger-Aliassime and Karen Khachanov in the end.
However, his return to this surface during the US Open Swing has been anything but spectacular.
The 2023 Eastbourne International winner was knocked out by Tommy Paul in the second round of the Canadian Masters but then things took a turn for the worse when Dusan Lajovic got the better of Cerundolo in the very first round in Cincinnati.
Here he is though, starting out a huge favourite – bet365 offering 1/5 for that – knowing he has a good chance of winning his maiden main draw match at this tournament.

Qualifier Svajda Has Never Made the Top 200
Tipped to be one of the players to watch out in the future, Svajda has had his time on the juniors’ circuit but he has been unable to produce the same results at the highest level. As a result, ranked 235th in the world, Svajda’s best ever ranking on the ATP charts has only been 201st which he achieved in June earlier this year.
And as a result of that, Svajda was forced to feature in the qualifiers here in which he overcame Ivan Gakhov, Vasek Pospisil and Marc Polmans to enter the main draw.
What’s fascinating to watch is that Svajda went into each of those matches as a favourite and by the time had featured in the third round had grown in so much confidence that he lost just three games in the encounter.
Having already made the second round at the US Open once before, he could look to take advantage at the potential lowering of his opponent’s confidence due to his recent form. Either way, Svajda can be expected to fight hard and will hope he can avoid the cramping issue that had besieged him on his US Open debut in 2019.
Cerúndolo v Svajda Prediction and Tip
Cerundolo starts a favourite but Svajda can be expected to put up a solid show here and might even run him very close.
Tips:
- Moderate Risk Tip: Over 35.5 games in the match: 5/6 (with bet365)
