2017 US Open finalist is making her 12th appearance in the New York major. She holds a 26-11 record in the tournament and only twice in her last 11 appearances has she been defeated in the first round.
Keys, ranked no. 17 in the world, is 28-11 across levels this year. She won her seventh career title this year by beating Daria Kasatkina in the Eastbourne final.
Additionally she was also a quarterfinalist in Wimbledon, Charleston and Dubai and also played a key role in the United States’ success at the United Cup.
Most recently, during the North American swing, Keys reached the last eight stage in Washington. She also won her first round match in Montreal, but pulled out of the tournament before the second round due to an injury.
She returned to acrtion in Cincinnati, only to lose the opener to Elise Mertens.

Can Rus Replicate Her Clay Form on Hard Court?
World no. 45 Arantxa Rus will be making her eighth appearance in the tournament this season, however, she has a disappointing 1-7 record from her previous attempts.
A decent clay court player, the 32-year-old has never been a dominant force on hard courts. This year she is 52-14 across levels but 43 of those wins ave come on clay.
On hard courts, the Dutchwoman has a 7-4 record in 2023.
Last month, Rus picked up her maiden WTA title in Hamburg, in what was her first ever WTA final.
This year, she also won her first two Challenger titles, and two ITF titles as well, all on clay. There was one hard court final that she featured in at the ITF level, but she withdrew from the final of that tournament.
Keys v Rus Prediction and Tip
Keys has enjoyed lots of success at Flushing Meadows, she is also the more experienced of the two and has played consistently throughout the season at the highest level. In contrast, most of Rus’ success this season has come in lower level tournaments. She also has a very poor record at the US Open and that clearly makes Keys the favourite.
