Alexander Zverev v Grigor Dimitrov Head to Head
There have been six previous meetings between these two players and Zverev has won five of them. Dimitrov’s only win over Zverev came in 2014 in Basel in their first meeting while in 2023 itself, Zverev has beaten his opponent twice in straight sets.

Zverev Made to Work by Altmaier
Starting out a 1/14 favourite (with bet365) in his second round match against Daniel Altmaier, Zverev was stretched to four sets by his German opponent before he sealed off his third round berth.
Zverev, who had last played at the US Open in 2021 and reached the semifinal, was on court for three hours and 47 minutes to register his four-set victory.
Thrice up a break in the first set, Zverev lost his serve in the very next game before scraping past Altmaier in the ensuing tie-breaker. In the second, however, his serving fell away even more dramatically as he was broken twice – making it five breaks of serves against him till then.
The world number 12 came back in the next two sets, breaking his opponent in the 10th game of the third and twice in the fourth to wrap up the encounter.
And while he starts off a 2/5 favourite with bet365 in round three, this result could well have been a wake-up call for the German, especially with his serving.

Dimitrov Finally Moves Past Round Two
Dimitrov’s previous three appearances at the US Open had resulted in three successive second round exits. This time around he broke that hoodoo as he overcame Andy Murray in straight sets to seal off a place in the third round.
Having struggled to go past Alex Molcan who had taken him to a fifth set tie-breaker in the first round, Dimitrov found the going way easier against Murray. The match lasted two hours and 48 minutes and as it progressed, Dimitrov was able to shut out his opponent’s challenge.
He won 6-4, 6-3, 6-1 after losing his serve once apiece in the first and third set. In response, he got the better of Murray’s serve on five occasions to seal off the victory.
Against Zverev, this could well turn out to be mental battle for Dimitrov given his previous results against the German. Can he push his opponent into a fourth or a fifth set here?
Zverev v Dimitrov Prediction and Tip
As rankings go, there’s not a lot between Zverev and Dimitrov – one ranked 12th and the other 19th. Unfortunately for Dimitrov, that counts for nothing given his head to head record against Zverev and a general difference in the mental toughness and temperament of the two players. Backing a Zverev win.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Zverev to win: 2/5 (with bet365)
- Moderate Risk Tip: Over 39.5 games in the match: 5/6 (with bet365)
