Belinda Bencic v Aliaksandra Sasnovich Head to Head

There have been two previous meetings between these two players with both having won once. Sasnovich clinched their first meeting at the 2018 US Open while Bencic made it 1-1 at the Miami Open last year.

Consistent Bencic Surprised by Cirstea

The thing with Bencic is that she has been consistently going deep into competitions but at Grand Slams, she has rarely started out as a challenger for the title that opponents would fear.

And that’s exactly how things panned out for the world number 13 at the US Open before this as she made it through to the fourth round of the tournament only to lose to the 13/10 underdog (with bet365) Sorana Cirstea in that encounter.

Take nothing away from Bencic who enters this tournament with a 24-9 win-loss record in hardcourt competitions for this season. This includes two titles – at Abu Dhabi and Adelaide – which is also the most she has won in one season.

Bencic will be featuring in this tournament for the first time in her career and enters on the back of a solid showing at the North American hardcourt swing as well. She had made the quarterfinal at both, the Washington Open and the Canadian Open and while Bencic fell in the first round in Cincinnati, she will be one to watch here.

The Swiss number one starts off 1/3 to win this with bet365.

Sasnovich Eases Through the Qualifiers

After having gotten knocked out in the first round of the US Open, Sasnovich returned rather well here at San Diego to come through the qualifiers.

While Sasnovich was the favourite coming into both the rounds, she dropped just five games in the two matches to qualify for the main draw of this tournament for the first time. Last year, she had lost in her opening qualifying round.

Earlier this year, Sasnovich had made the semifinal of the Rosmalen Open in mid-June but since then, has barely won a round. In the seven tournaments she has played since, Sasnovich has made the second round just three times and never beyond that.

And now that she takes on a world number 13, things won’t be getting any easier for her.

Can she put up a fight here despite starting out a 5/2 underdog with bet365?

Bencic v Sasnovich Prediction and Tip

Bencic will be a favourite but having not played in a while Sasnovich will look to take advantage of that. Expecting a hard-fought encounter as a result

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Sasnovich to win a set – Yes: 8/11 (with bet365)
