Harriet Dart v Anna Kalinskaya Head to Head

There has been one previous meeting at the highest level which came at the 2019 Tashkent Open and Kalinskaya had won that match.

Dart Edges Past Fruhvirtova

Such has been Linda Fruhvirtova’s run of form that even though she was coming up against a player ranked way behind her at 161st, she wasn’t quite the favourite coming into her first round match against Dart.

And while Fruhvirtova did show some signs of a fight, Dart was the better player on the day, taking advantage of her opponent’s obvious struggles with form.

Dart was on court for three hours and 20 minutes, broke Fruhvirtova seven times from the 19 chances she got before winning 7-5, 5-7, 6-2 to clinch her spot in the second round. This was her first main draw win in a WTA tournament since her three-set win over Shuai Zhang in Eastbourne in June.

The Brit lost her own serve on five occasions including twice in the first set when Fruhvirtova served for it at 5-4 but she held her ground rather well. And while a late break of serve in the second set allowed Fruhvirtova to come back, Dart broke her twice in the first two games of the decider to finish off the match.

Can she now overcome her 19/10 odds with bet365 to oust her Russian opponent?

Kalinskaya Eases Past Niemeier

Kalinskaya had gone into her opener against Jule Niemeier as a 2/5 favourite with bet365 and lived up to those odds as she grabbed her place in the second round.

Having been out of action because of a fitness concern and as a result of that, fallen out of the top 90, Kalinskaya had returned to make it to the second round at the US Open. She had fallen to Sorana Cirstea in that encounter before entering this tournament.

The Russian needed an hour and 35 minutes in her second competition since her injury sabbatical to go past her opponent, winning 6-4, 6-4 in her opener.

While Kalinskaya dropped her serve once, that came in the first set after she had taken a 4-1 lead and there was no looking back from there. She missed two break-points early in the second set before breaking her opponent to love in the ninth game.

Soon after Kalinskaya saved three break-points of her own before wrapping the match up off her first match-point.

She starts a 2/5 favourite (at bet365) yet again in her second round match.

Dart v Kalinskaya Prediction and Tip

Expecting a fit-again Kalinskaya to come through in this one. Might see a fight in one of the sets but that’s as far as Dart might go.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Kalinskaya to win: 2/5 (with bet365)
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Under 21.5 games in the match: 5/6 (with bet365)
