Jasmine Paolini v Louisa Chirico Head to Head
There have been no previous meetings between these players at the highest level. They did face off on the ITF circuit but that came in 2019 and Paolini had won in three sets.

Paolini Touches Career-Best Ranking
A first round loss at the San Diego Open meant that Paolini fell a couple of spots on the WTA Rankings charts but just prior to featuring in that opener, she had hit her career-best ranking.
This has been thanks to a much-improved showing from Paolini having kick-started the season with three main draw wins from her first eight tournaments.
As the clay swing began, Paolini’s performances also started to get better till she won the WTA 125 tournament in Florence, made the final of the Makarska Open and then another one in Palermo.
More recently, having been forced to qualify for the Cincinnati Open, Paolini entered the quarterfinal stage of the tournament before going down to Cori Gauff, which was another pointer to her much-improved form.
And while she has lost her last three matches, Paolini should still have some confidence from her previous performances coming into this one. She is 1/4 (with bet365) to win this opener.

Chirico Hoping to Recapture Bastad Form
Having fallen to 252nd on the WTA Rankings, Chirico had done well in recent times to improve to 202nd thanks to a semifinal appearance at the Bastad Open.
Overall, however, it’s not been much of a season to remember for Chirico who was once looking to break into the top 50 in her career. That was way back in the 2016-17 seasons but fitness issues have caused the American a whole host of problems here.
Chirico enters this tournament on the back of having qualified for the San Diego Open where she then lost in the first round to Danielle Collins.
Here, she has been awarded a direct entry and has a player against her who comes into the encounter having lost her previous three matches. Can Chirico put up a fight despite her form struggles? She is a distant 4/1 (bet365) underdog to win this.
Paolini v Chirico Prediction and Tip
Paolini should start a favourite obviously but we won’t count Chirico out from winning a set here.
Tips:
- Medium Risk Tip: Chirico to win a set: 6/4 (with bet365)
