Veronika Kudermetova v Eugenie Bouchard Head to Head

World no. 19 Veronika Kudermetova will be playing her first match of the tournament in the second round on Monday.
The seventh seed, who had a first round bye, was a quarterfinalist last year. She has displayed good form for most parts of the season, but she had a poor run during the North American hard court swing. Ever since going out in the second round in Wimbledon, Kudermetova has won just one match in four tournaments.
That one win came in the first round in Cleveland, while she made first round exits from Cincinnati, US Open and the San Diego Open.
As a result Kudermetova has lost considerable points in the rankings. While she started the year at no. 9, but is currently down to no. 19 in the world.

Bouchard Knocks Out Local Hope
Eugenie Bouchard made a fine start in the tournament, knocking out local hope Renata Zarazúa in straight sets on Sunday.
The world no. 248 Bouchard was broken once in the match, but she did not face another break point and converted half of the six break points that she held to beat the world no. 181, 6-1, 7-6 (7-4).
With the win, the Canadian has now improved her season record to 11-10 across levels.
This was Bouchard’s first main draw win at the tour level since beating Dayana Yastremska in the first round in Madrid.
It will be interesting to see if the 2014 Wimbledon finalist can cause an upset in the second round.
Kudermetova v Bouchard Prediction and Tip
Kudermetova is the superior player here. Bouchard had an impact a few years ago, but owing to injuries in recent years she has played very little tennis and has struggled to have the same impact on her return. It will be a huge ask for the Canadian to topple the seventh seed.
