Caroline Garcia v Hailey Baptiste Head to Head
They have faced off once before this in a first round match at the Australian Open. Baptiste had come back from a set down to shock Garcia in that one.

Such has been Garcia’s form that it didn’t even come as a surprise that she struggled in her second round match against Aliaksandra Sasnovich here in Guadalajara.
Garcia, who had a first round bye, came back from a set down to clinch her third round berth in a match that went on for nearly three hours.
In fact, Garcia was down a set and then 0-2 in the second set and then again saw Sasnovich serve for the match at 6-5. Garcia saved two match-points before pushing the set into a tie-breaker which she went on to edge.
The decider again was no runaway success for Garcia who took seven games to finally break Sasnovich and then off her second match-point, the Frenchwoman finally found a way past her to seal off the win.
This was Garcia’s fourth win spread across seven hardcourt competitions before this. Can she make it five as she starts off a 7/20 favourite with bet365 in this third round encounter?

Baptiste Shocks Pliskova
Karolina Pliskova is a former world number one and while she has had her own troubles with form and winning matches, she was a 1/4 favourite (with bet365) going into her second round match against Hailey Baptiste.
Baptiste, however, put up a sterling display of grit and determination and in a match lasting two hours and 52 minutes, the American was able to win a very tight three-setter.
Rather interestingly, Baptiste lost her serve on six occasions in the encounter while she managed only five breaks of serves of her own. Where the difference lay in the three-setter was the tie-breakers as the American won them both without too many worries.
Baptiste will also take a lot of heart from the fact that Pliskova served for both, the first and the third set – in fact having a match-point in the third – but she managed to break back to clinch the win.
And if she can put up a similar showing against a player struggling in the manner that Garcia is, we could see those 21/10 (bet365) odds for her win overturn very easily.
