Tomas Etcheverry v Luke Saville Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came in the qualifiers of the Adelaide International earlier this year where Etcheverry won in straight sets.

Etcheverry Much Improved This Season
As mentioned in the head to head section above, Etcheverry had played Saville in January and they had faced off in the qualifiers of that event. It was testimony to where Etcheverry stood in terms of the rankings at that stage, having started out ranked 80th in the world.
Fast forward eight months and he has already broken into the top 30 and is currently at 35th on the ATP charts.
Most of his successes, however, have come on clay and therein lies the rub. Outside of clay, on which he is 19-12 for the season, the Argentine has won just four main draw matches this year.
And that’s why he might start off a heavy favourite here at 1/5 (with bet365), it might not be that straightforward a result for him.

Saville Struggling to Get Going
Once ranked at a career-best of 152nd in the world, Saville has slowly slipped down the charts and is currently not even in the top 300.
Which is why he was forced to play Futures events earlier this year and managed to win three of them, thereby improving from 598th this season to his current 313th.
Saville then focussed his attention towards the Challengers circuit but success has eluded him there. In the four tournaments he’s played there, Saville has won just one main draw match there.
In the qualifiers of this event, Saville started off a 1/3 favourite against Stefanos Sakellaridis but was a 2/1 underdog (with bet365) against Stefano Napolitano in the second. He won them both to make it to the main draw where he will face a clay court specialist.
He sure will hope to turn things around here but it won’t be easy despite his opponent’s issues on this surface.
Etcheverry v Saville Prediction and Tip
While Etcheverry is a favourite we think he could be stretched to three sets by Saville in this one. Or a two-setter which gets very close.
Tips:
- Moderate Risk Tip: Etcheverry to win AND Over 20.5 games in the match: 13/10 (with bet365)
