Mackenzie McDonald has been handed a wild card for the tournament.

The American, ranked no. 39th in the world, is coming off a quarterfinal finish in the Zhuhai Championships, which concluded earlier this week.

McDonald had won tough three-setters against Shang Juncheng and Kimmer Coppejans, but he went down to eventual champion Karen Khachanov in the last eight stage.

McDonald has a 30-24 record this season. A one-time tour level finalist, his best this year include semifinal finishes in Delray Beach and Eastbourne and he also featured in a first ever ATP 1000 quarterfinal in Toronto.
