Anastasia Potapova v Varvara Gracheva Head to Head

There have been two previous meetings between them including one in a qualifier of an event and both those clay-court matches were won by Potapova.

Potapova Form Needs More Consistency

Having hit a career-high ranking of 21st in the world earlier this season, Potapova hasn’t quite been able to continue in that same vein in recent times.

Gone are those consistently deep runs into competitions, which had seen her win a title in Linz, make the quarterfinals in Miami and the semifinals in Stuttgart and Birmingham.

Since entering the third round at Wimbledon, Potapova has played 10 matches spread across seven tournaments and lost seven matches. That includes four first round defeats including one last week at the Guadalajara Open where it was the 15/4 underdog Emiliana Arango who ended her campaign.

With that kind of form under her belt, Potapova will be glad to be up against a player who has had her own struggles which makes the Russian a 4/11 favourite to win this with bet365.

Gracheva on a Four-Match Losing Streak

It’s interesting to note that Gracheva’s form this season has followed a very similar trajectory to Potapova’s.

Like Potapova, Gracheva also made the final of a hardcourt competition – in Austin – and later she would go on to enter the fourth round of both, the Indian Wells Open and the Miami Open. In both those competitions she was a qualifier.

But in more recent times, her form has tapered off with Gracheva falling in the second round at Wimbledon and since then having barely done anything of note.

In fact since reaching that second round berth at the season’s only grass court major, Gracheva has won a mere two of the 10 matches she has played – a record worse than Potapova. And that is also why she starts off a distant 21/10 to win this with bet365.

Potapova v Gracheva Prediction and Tip

On paper, when it comes to bookmakers’ odds there is a huge gulf between these two but we believe Gracheva has a good chance of challenging Potapova here.
