Iga Swiatek v Sara Sorribes Tormo Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at the 2023 Wimbledon where Swiatek dropped only two games on her way to winning the match.

Swiatek was bundled out of the US Open in the fourth round and in turn lost her world number one ranking to Arnya Sabalenka. Unfortunately for her, more on-court grief has followed her with the Polish player losing her second match at the Tokyo Open last week.
After getting an opening round bye and then finding the going slightly difficult against Mai Hontama, Swiatek lost to Veronika Kudermetova in three sets in the quarterfinal.
In losing that match, Swiatek had lost that early in a tournament – i.e. won just one match before losing the next – for the first time since August 2022 when she was sent packing in the third round of the Cincinnati Open.

Sorribes Tormo Returns after US Open
Sorribes Tormo did not feature in the first three months of the season and since her return, took part in clay court competitions for all of those following three months.
She did well to recover from lost ranking, having hit a season low of 155th in the world to having returned to her current 55th. And that has been thanks to her performances on clay but also how she managed to win the title in Cleveland.
The Spaniard kick-started that competition in the qualifiers wherein she lost in the second round. Sorribes Tormo returned as a lucky loser and then went on a rampage to stun Veronika Kudermetova, Sloane Stephens and Ekaterina Alexandrova on her way to the title.
Sorribes Tormo has played in only the US Open after that and even there, she was sent packing in round two. Without too much tennis under her belt and with the world number two up against her, it is no surprise to see her start out a 8/1 underdog here with bet365.
