Cori Gauff v Ekaterina Alexandrova Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two players with both having won one. While Gauff had won in 2021 in Dubai Alexandrova surprised her in Berlin earlier this year.

She now resumes her journey towards making it to the top of the world as far as the rankings are concerned and while she is still way off, it might not be a far-fetched ambition to see her at the pole position by the end of Australian Open next year.

Alexandrova Will Hope to Do Better Than Her Recent Results
Alexandrova would have been proud of her result at the Cleveland Open where she was the runner-up to Sara Sorribes Tormo but since then she hasn’t done as well as she would have liked.
The Russian made the third round at the US Open which was probably a bit of an under-par result for a player wanting to break into the top 10.
And she was then sent packing in the first round of the San Diego Open before winning just one match at the WTA 1000 event in Guadalajara.
Even in Tokyo last week, Alexandrova might have done well to reach the quarterfinals but losing to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova would have been a bitter pill to swallow. Especially in a hardcourt competition.
