The Czech player was a finalist in 2014, a semifinalist in 2013 and 2017 and a quarterfinalist in 2016 and 2019.

Kvitova is 29-12 this season, and 21-9 on hard courts. She most recently featured in the Ningbo Open, where she lost in the quarterfinals to Diana Shnaider.

Wang Is Coming Off a Good Run in September

After the high of winning her maiden WTA title in Guangzhou last Sunday, Xiyu Wang went down in the opening round in Ningbo.

The 22-year-old world no. 58 has an overall record of 27-23 across levels this year. The left-hander reached her first two finals of the season in September.

The first one was at the ITF Tokyo Open, where she finished as runner-up, while the second was in Guangzhou, where she beat Magda Linette to lift her first ever WTA title in what was her first ever final.

Other highlights for Wang included a round of 16 finish in Rome and a third round finish in Madrid.

Can she carry the form of September to October?
