Auger-Aliassime v Fucsovics Head to Head
There have been three previous meetings between these two players and Auger-Aliassime leads 2-1. All of these came in hardcourt competitions while none of them have come after 2021.
Auger-Aliassime Has a Lot of Catching Up to Do
Last year Auger-Aliassime looked to have turned things around in his career by winning four ATP titles. This year things have suddenly gone south for him.
To give you an idea how things have suddenly hit rock-bottom for Auger-Aliassime you need to look at his record alone.
It was in Indian Wells earlier this year in March that Auger-Aliassime last won back to back matches in a single tournament. He had made a respectable quarterfinal there before going down to Carlos Alcaraz.
Since then, in the 11 tournaments that the Canadian has played, he has won a mere three matches! That’s a top-10 player aspiring to break into the top five that we are talking about!
Which is why what would be very important is how he ends the season. A good couple of results at the Shanghai and Paris Masters could go a long way in overcoming any confidence-damage it might have caused him.

Fucsovics Eases Past Yevseyev
Fucsovics has himself not been in the best of touches and he entered this tournament with just two wins to his name at the highest level since Wimbledon.
That being said, he had made the semifinal in the Stuttgart Open just prior to Wimbledon and even in that season’s third major, Fucsovics had overcome Tallon Griekspoor and Marcos Giron to enter round three.
Here, he was drawn to face Kazakh qualifier and 258th-ranked Denis Yevseyev and took full advantage of his opponent’s lack of experience as he routed him in straight sets.
In a match lasting an hour and 20 minutes, Fucsovics shrugged off both the break-points he faced while getting past Yevseyev’s serve on three occasions.
His real test will come against Auger-Aliassime and given how his opponent has been struggling to make things count, he could well put up a very strong showing.
