Shelton v Munar Prediction and Tip
Although he may need a little time to acclimatise to Chinses conditions, Shelton’s performances at the US Open should have given him a great deal of confidence, and now he will want to improve his Masters’ record.
It is difficult to make a case for Munar stopping him.

Ben Shelton v Jaume Munar Head to Head
The pair have never met before.
This will be the first match between the 20 year old American, and the Spaniard who is six years older.
Shelton Going Places after Solid Grand Slam Showings
Although he was part of the victorious Rest of the World team in the Laver Cup, this will be Shelton’s first match competing in his own right since he reached the semi-finals of the US Open, his best showing to date in a Grand Slam.
Unfortunately hopes of an American home Grand Slam winner were brutally ended by Novak Djokovic, who beat him in straight sets.
That, however, did confirm the promise when Shelton reached the quarter-finals of the Australian Open in January.
He is one of those on the tour to be too young to have competed in this event the last time that health conditions permitted Shanghai to host it.
But, in giving Shelton a first round bye, the organisers have ensured he has kept up his record of reaching the second round of every Masters this year.
A win, though, would send him into the unknown territory of the third round.

Munar Ends Losing Run Against Wildcard
Another player new to this event, Munar has reached the fourth round of a Masters event before, and that was earlier this year in Madrid.
That, though, was on clay, the surface on which he has had the most success on the Challenger tour, with eight titles to his name, and on which he reached his only ATP final to date, back in Chile in 2021.
The Spaniard had not won a main tour match since Umag in July, but a favourable draw against the Chinese wildcard, Rigele Te, the world number 494 in the first round, gave him the chance to end that dismal run.
It was a match that Munar controlled throughout, two breaks of serve enough to give him the first set.
Another break midway through the second set put him firmly in the driving seat, and, although he could not convert any of his subsequent break points it did not matter.
Te rarely threatened his own serve, and it was just a matter of time until the match was won.
