Zverev v Safiullin Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two including one as recently as the Chengdu Open final two weeks ago. Both were won by Zverev.
Zverev In Hot Form
Four years ago, when the Shanghai Masters was held for the last time before the COVID suspension, Alexander Zverev had made it to the final of the tournament, only to finish runner-up to Daniil Medvedev.
Zverev, who has 5 Masters titles from 10 finals, has a 10-4 record in Shanghai, which also includes a semifinal finish in 2018.
The German is 49-22 this year and is in terrific form at the moment. He has a 15-3 record from the last four tournaments, which includes a semifinal finish in Cincinnati, a quarterfinal finish at the US Open, a title success in Chengdu and another semifinal finish in Beijing.
The 21-time tour level champion has won two titles this year, which includes the Hamburg title in addition to the triumphant run in Chengdu.
Given his hot form in China, the ninth seed is expected to make a deep run in Shanghai.
