The two players have never met on the ATP circuit and this will be their first ever meeting on the tour.
Nadal Looking to Defend and Win Fifth Canadian Open
World number two Rafael Nadal is a four time champion at the Rogers Cup and is looking for his fifth title in Canada. He is the defending champion and is looking for his first set of back-to-back titles at the Rogers Cup.
Nadal has had a mixed week with challenges from Briton Dan Evans, and Italian Fabio Fognini, who folded after a very convincing first set win. With Frenchman Gael Monfils pulling out of the semi-final against Nadal to avoid playing twice in the same day, the top seed may feel a little light on practice heading into the final.
The Spaniard has had a good year winning the French Open for a record 12th time, being an Australian Open finalist, and losing in the semi-finals at Wimbledon.
The top seed at Montreal mentioned that he is happy with his health, fitness and game and looks forward to a successful season on the North American hard courts.

Nadal v Medvedev Predictions & Tips
The first ever meeting between these players makes for a final worth looking forward to.
Medvedev is in prime form and has shown it on plenty occasions in the last few weeks. Nadal on the other hand has not played since Wimbledon, and may have looked a little rusty and short on match practice, but one knows only too well that he will increase his level in an ATP Masters 1000 final.
What will be crucial to see is how well Medvedev handles the Nadal forehand, and if he can keep his excellent serving form going.
An exciting match on the cards with Nadal prevailing in two close sets.
