It has been a season to forget for Maria Sharapova, who has been struggling with injuries and the consequent loss in form for most of the year. With just seven wins and five losses, she hasn’t been that active this year.
Sharapova has failed to move past the early rounds well since the Australian Open. Since then, she has managed to win just two matches while retiring on two other instances. In Wimbledon, she was on track to win her opener against Pauline Parmentier but retired from the match in the final set, despite being up 5-0.
