Stefanos Tsitsipas v Jan-Lennard Struff Head to Head
Both these players are currently tied at one win apiece. This will be their third meeting in 2019.
Tsitsipas Was Largely Underwhelming In Canada
Stefanos Tsitsipas fell at the first hurdle in the Rogers Cup last week to the dangerous Pole Hubert Hurkacz. The young Greek was aiming to repeat last year’s feat when he announced himself on the big stage proper by stunning Novak Djokovic en route to his first Masters 1000 final.
Tsitsipas though is likely to treat that defeat as a one-off especially after a string of breathtaking performances on tour in 2019. He will start his bid for the biggest title of his career and his third of the year.
The reigning Next Gen star already boasts an impressive resume featuring titles in Marseille and Estoril and reaching the final in Madrid and Dubai. He also made his maiden Grand Slam semifinal appearance at the Australian Open where he stunned Roger Federer in the fourth round.
Tsitsipas reached the semifinals in Washington a couple of weeks ago, and squandered a match-point in his three-set defeat to Nick Kyrgios, the eventual champion.

Struff Could Run The Greek Close Again
In the two meetings between the pair, it is clear to see the matches were closely contested and this one is most likely to follow pattern. But the worrying thing for the powerful German is that he has suffered a lengthy hangover since reaching the third round at Wimbledon.
In fact it is since Wimbledon Struff managed to win back-to-back matches on tour. He suffered second round exits in Hamburg and Rogers Cup, and was beaten by Jordan Thompson in the first round in Washington.
Despite his recent wobble, the 29-year-old is in the midst of compiling his best season tour. He reached the semifinals in Auckland to start the year, and managed to reach the fourth round of the BNP Paribas Open where he stunned then World No.3 Alexander Zverev. He made the fourth round at the French Open – the first time he had ever advanced at that stage in a major.
Tsitsipas v Struff Predictions & Tips
Struff claimed the bragging rights the last time these two met in Barcelona and Tsitsipas would be wary of the brute firepower that the German is capable of dishing out. But given his inconsistent run of results of late, it is hard to see the German record an upset win in this one. Tsitsipas to win in straight sets is a smart pick here.
Tip: Tsitsipas to win in straight sets : 11/8 (888Sport)
