Simona Halep v Madison Keys Head to Head
Halep holds a formidable 5-1 lead over Keys and has pretty much dominated all of their meetings since the 2014 Italian Open. They have also crossed paths in a couple of big events like the Rogers Cup final and WTA Finals where Halep, not-so-surprisingly, prevailed in straight sets.

But she is looking to make amends for it in Cincinnati and so far, she is on the right path. She moved past Garbine Muguruza in the opener in three thrilling sets. Post that, she knocked out Daria Kasatkina with 6-4, 6-1, to set up the Halep clash.

Halep Back in Action
Just last week in Toronto, Simona Halep retired from her quarterfinal bout against Marie Bouzkova with a lower leg injury. However, on Wednesday, she staged a triumphant return in Cincinnati by defeating Ekaterina Alexandrova in three sets.
With that win, she dispelled all concerns of any injuries that may have cast doubts over her appearance in Flushing Meadows. It was a fight for Halep, no less, who is sailing high on confidence from her winning run at the SW19.
Halep has been generally fit through most of the season with little to no retirements from any of the matches. She has also done well to stay in the top five by reaching the penultimate rounds in big-ticket events in Miami, Eastbourne, and Paris, and the final in WTA Doha and the Madrid Open.
Halep v Keys Prediction & Tips
Even though Halep will start as the overwhelming favourite here, considering her lead over Keys and the recent form, things may not go according to the plan for her. Keys is a formidable opponent and a strong player who can very well put Halep on the backfoot quite early in the match. The experience will play a big role here and we can expect this one to be a classic, three-set thriller.
