What Happened at the 2019 Houston Open?

Steve Johnson was a two-time defending champion but went down early in the tournament, leaving the coast clear for Christian Garin to go on to win the title. He defeated Casper Ruud in a pulsating final to lift the trophy.

No seeded player in the tournament made it to the final, just one, in the form of Sam Querrey got to the semis while another one made the quarterfinal. The other seeds Jeremy Chardy, Cameron Norrie and Reilly Opelka reached the second round.
