Serena Williams will play the final of the US Open on Saturday in a bid to capture her 24th career Grand Slam and while the season is far from over after this final major, the big question is how much will she play this year beyond the final on Saturday?

Former American tennis player Jim Courier suggests that Williams will not be taking part in the China Open that is held in Beijing, or even the WTA Finals in Shenzhen.

Williams currently sits 10th in the race to the season-ending WTA Finals, where the top eight players of the season compete for the title. She skipped the event last year as well after losing the US Open final to Naomi Osaka; in fact, she did not play any other tournament after that loss.

Courier said that former American women’s player Lindsay Davenport has more or less confirmed that the US Open will be the last tournament of the season for Williams.

Williams is expected to come back directly at the Australian Open in January next year, where she will be hoping to surpass Margaret Court’s record of 24 Grand Slam titles – that’s if she can win the US Open title this year.

On the other hand, Serena’s sister, Venus, confirmed she will be playing in the China Open. She expressed how she has missed China and all the passionate kids there, while also saying she was looking forward to the food and the city in China.

Serena will play 19-year-old Canadian Bianca Andreescu on Saturday to win her 24th slam of her career. She comes to the final in very good touch, having emphatically beaten Elina Svitolina 6-3, 6-1 in the semifinals.

Fan of all sports but a tennis lover at heart. Bawled her heart out when Federer missed those two Championships points at Wimbledon 2019 but then again, Nadal won 2022 Australian Open from two sets down. Such is life! (yes, loves both Federer and Nadal in equal doses!)
