Host Australia joined the 18 other countries for the first ever edition of the ATP Cup that will be played early in 2020.
All the top players in the men’s ranking will represent their countries in this 2020 ATP Cup which is a team-based competition but will also have ranking points for individuals.
Serbia, represented by Novak Djokovic, Spain by Rafael Nadal and Switzerland by Roger Federer will all be a part of the competition but the big news is that Andy Murray has opted to feature in the competition which means Great Britain will be a part of the ATP Cup as well.

ATP Executive Chairman and President, Chris Kermode, said he was happy to have a solid line-up of top players featuring in this opening edition of the ATP Cup which will act as a season-opener for many of the players.
He added:
“Our belief was that week one in the calendar, together with Tennis Australia, would work best for player scheduling, and today’s announcement is a confirmation of that. Having the top players competing in this new global event is critical, and the ATP Cup looks set to kick off the ATP Tour season in a big way in 2020.”
Other than the aforementioned countries, Russia, Austria, Germany, Greece, Japan, Italy, France, Belgium, Croatia, Argentina, Georgia, South Africa, USA, Canada and hosts Australia have qualified for the tournament for now. Five other teams will be revealed on November 13.
The first round of this ATP Cup will be played at Brisbane, Perth and Sydney before the top eight teams move into the final stages of the competition. That will be hosted by Sydney and will see quarter-finals, semi-finals and a final with every tie being a best of three; two singles matches and one doubles one.
The first draw for the competition will happen tomorrow along with the ATP Cup 2020 schedule. Tickets for the tournament will be available from September 18.
