Matteo Berrettini v Andy Murray Head to Head
This will be a first-ever meeting on tour.
Berrettini Suffered Shocking Loss In St. Petersburg
Matteo Berrettini’s sensational run to the semifinals of the US Open took many by surprise, but his loss to Belorussian World No.119 Egor Gerasimov in St. Petersburg a fortnight ago sent shock-waves across the tennis world.
The talented Italian was touted as one of the prime candidates to walk away with the title in Russia following his heroics at Flushing Meadows, but ultimately succumbed to Gerasimov’s poise and tactical awareness.
However, there will be no room for sentimentality for Berrettini when he takes on Andy Murray particularly with a spot at the season-ending ATP Finals up for grabs following a career-best season.
The 23-year-old is currently 8th in the Race To London, disposing off Kei Nishikori after his brilliant run in New York where he became the first Italian man in 42 years to reach the last four.

Murray Ended Winning Drought In Zhuhai
Andy Murray’s golden old days may be over, but the Brit believes he still has plenty to offer in singles competition.
The former World No.1 picked up his first tour-level victory since undergoing a career-threatening hip operation earlier this year when he beat Tennys Sandgren in nearly three-hours of grueling tennis at the Zhuhai Championships last week. Eventually, Murray fell short in his bid to win again as he lost to Alex De Minaur in the next round.
Murray made his return to singles action last month when he received a wildcard to play at the Cincinnati Masters, losing to Richard Gasquet in straight sets.
The Scotsman who is currently ranked No.413 in the world (but entered the tournament with a protected wildcard ranking) has a busy schedule for the remaining part of the season. He is due to play at the Shanghai Masters and Antwerp as he looks to fast-track his rise in the rankings.
Berrettini v Murray Predictions & Tips
Three years ago, this match-up would have been plain sailing as far as Murray’s progress to the next round is concerned. But how times have changed, and opponents too. Berrettini is at the top of his game right now, and Murray will count himself unlucky to be given quite possibly the toughest first round imaginable.
Tip: Berrettini to win in straight sets: 11/8 (888Sport)
