Felix Auger-Aliassime v Albert Ramos-Vinolas Head to Head
The pair have played each other once before, on the clay of Sao Paolo earlier this year, the Canadian winning in straight sets, albeit via two tie-breaks.
Auger-Aliassime, Breakthrough Year for the Teenager
Still only 19, Auger-Aliassime has enjoyed a breakthrough year in 2019, not only breaking in to the world’s top 100, but becoming a top twenty player, and deposing Milos Raonic as Canada’s number one. The teenager has reached three finals this year – in Rio, Lyon, and Stuttgart – and although he lost them all, it is surely now a matter of when, and not if, he will win his first title.
Since Stuttgart though he has struggled a little with consistency – he reached the semi-finals at the Queen’s Club, but has not won more than two matches at any event subsequently, and has been knocked out at the first time of asking from the last three tournaments he has contested – the Cincinnati Masters, the US Open, and, last week, the Chengdu Open, where he was beaten by Joao Sousa of Portugal.

World number 46 Ramos-Vinolas won his second ATP career title in July, clinching the Swiss Open in Gstaad, after beating the German Cedric-Marcel Stebe in the final. That same month he also reached the final in Kitzbuhel, only to lose to local favourite Dominic Thiem on that occasion.
Whilst his best results tend to come on clay – all but one of his 9 senior finals have been played on that surface – he can play on hard courts, as proved by his run to the semi-finals in Zhuhai last week, where he knocked out Gael Monfils, before losing to the eventual tournament winner, Adrian Mannarino, of France.
He was ranked as high as 17 in the world two years ago.
Auger-Aliassime v Ramos-Vinolas Predictions & Tips
Auger-Aliassime is the favourite to win this match at 5/8, whilst Ramos-Vinolas is priced at 16/11. The Canadian does not come into this match in good form, whilst the Spaniard was a semi-finalist in Zhuhai last week. Despite that, the teenager must snap his losing streak sometime, and this is as good a time as any.
