Ashleigh Barty v Kiki Bertens Head to Head

Barty holds a formidable 4-0 lead over Bertens and has defeated her in all of their meetings so far. They met twice this season, in the WTA Sydney and Miami Open, where the Aussie won in three sets, after losing the first one.

Barty, with Yet Another Semifinal Run

Ash Barty has done a fantastic job of living up to the reputation of being World No. 1. This being her third semifinal appearance in the last four tournaments, it is difficult to not imagine the young Aussie playing at this level of consistency.

Just last week in Wuhan, she reached the final four where she fell ultimately to Aryna Sabalenka. She has repeated the same feat once again, this time Beijing. And interestingly enough, her performance has been far more intriguing and commendable this time around. Enjoying a bye into the second round, she first dispatched Yulia Putintseva, followed by Saisai Zheng. Then, in the quarterfinal, she met Petra Kvitova and dispatched the Czech in three sets.

With 51 wins and just 10 losses now, Barty is now sure to end the season as No. 1. The French Open and Miami Open champion has had a year to be proud of and so far, has shown no signs of inconsistency or even fatigue. With the exception of the Italian Open, she has made it to the fourth round and beyond of every other tournament this season.

Bertens, Back in Business

Kiki Bertens has reached her first semifinal on the WTA Tour since the Palermo Open back in July. Struggling with her form and bouts of inconsistency, the 27-year-old Dutch has once again established herself as top player by putting up a commendable show in Beijing. In many ways, this run comes as a breath of fresh air for Bertens, who struggled considerably in Zhengzhou, Osaka, and Wuhan.

Starting with Donna Vekic, the number 8 seed moved on to defeat Dayana Yastremska, Polona Hercog, and most recently, the in-form Ukrainian Elina Svitolina in straight sets. It is worth mentioning that the win over Svitolina was her first top-10 win since the WTA Eastbourne in June this year.

Considering Bertens’ season on the whole, she has been quite impressive. With two singles titles and two runner-up trophies, she has registered a litany of top 10 wins over the likes of Simona Halep, Petra Kvitova, Angelique Kerber, Sloane Stephens, and others. Even though her form took a sharp hit over the last few weeks, it is certainly a delight to see her bounce back in style.

Barty v Bertens Tips & Predictions

Barty will have the edge in this game, given her recent form and consistency. Plus, with a 4-0 lead over Bertens, she also holds the psychological advantage. This will be a tough game for the Dutchwoman but the odds aren’t completely against her. Given her skill set, she can navigate this hurdle efficiently if she starts strong.
