Elena Rybakina v Laura Siegemund Predictions & Preview
Rybakina holds a 1-0 lead over Siegemund, last beating her in an ITF event in Launceston earlier this season.
The 20-year-old Kazakh Elena Rybakina has had a breakthrough spell this season by all means. She is currently ranked World No. 43, her best singles ranking yet, and looks primed to move up further with a promising future ahead of her. With a win-loss tally of 54-20, Rybakina has been working incredibly hard and has several accomplishments to her name.
The number three seed won her maiden title in Bucharest and later reached the final in the Jiangxi Open. She enjoyed a good run on the ITF circuit too and reached the penultimate rounds in the Libema Open and Wuhan Open. So far in Luxembourg, she has moved past Chloe Paquet and Denisa Allertova.
As for Siegemund, she hasn’t had half the season in comparison to Rybakina. Most of her season is marked by a bunch of early round defeats in the qualifiers or opening rounds. Among her highlights include a quarterfinal run in WTA Hiroshima. She last played in Linz where she fell in the second round. Over here, the German has successfully defeated Marta Kostyuk and Viktoria Kuzmova to reach the quarters.

Julia Goerges v Monica Puig Predictions & Preview
The two ladies have got quite a history on the WTA Tour with Puig holding a 4-2 lead over Goerges. The Puerto Rican was dominating their meetings on the circuit up until 2018, when Goerges got two, back to back wins to draw some blood and try to make things even. They met in the Wimbledon last season, where the German won in straight sets.
Goerges, seeded second for the tournament, was a top 10 player at one point in time. However, at the moment, she is World No. 26, courtesy of a rather average showing this season. Having enjoyed a good run in the first half of the season, where she won the Auckland Open and reached the final Birmingham, her form has dwindled over the last couple of months.
Seeking her maiden title since Auckland, the number two seed has so far knocked out Misaki Doi and Sorana Cirstea.
Puig, meanwhile, is hoping to end the season on a positive note by reaching her first singles final in over two seasons. Coincidentally, the last time she reached the final was right here in Luxembourg in 2017 where she had to settle for the runner-up trophy. She is heading into this fixture after surviving a three-set thriller against Krystina Pliskova, with the final set going into a tie-break.
Her performance over the last few weeks has been highly mediocre and it is certainly a treat to see her reach the quarterfinal.

Margarita Gasparyan v Anna Blinkova Predictions & Preview
The head to head tally is currently tied at 1-1, with the 21-year-old Blinkova winning their last meeting in the French Open earlier this year.
This being an Russian affair, will definitely prove to be an entertaining match. Blinkova, seeded eighth for the tournament, has so far knocked out a very spirited Cori Gauff in the opener, along with Tatjana Maria. The young Moscovite has shown glimpses of brilliance this year with an incredible strike-rate of 44-26. Clearly high on stamina and energy, Blinkova has alternated between ITF and WTA circuit with some success in both. Among her recent feats include a semifinal run in Guangzhou.
As for Gasparyan, she has had a rather quiet year this season. She arrived in Luxembourg with a bunch of early-round exits in plenty of tournaments, which degraded her form drastically. In fact, her present quarterfinal run is among her best ones of the season, having defeated the likes of Jill Teichmann and Monica Niculescu.
For this match, Blinkova will start as the clear, overwhelming favourite.

Jelena Ostapenko v Antonio Lottner Predictions & Preview
The two ladies have never met before on the WTA Tour.
Jelena Ostapenko, the former French Open champion and a teenage prodigy, has spent a majority of the season battling form woes and trying to recapture her glory days. Currently ranked World No. 63, she has spent a bulk of the year in futile attempts to move past the early rounds. It wasn’t until recently that she got some solace when the young Latvian made it to the final of the Linz Open. Despite settling for a runner-up trophy there, Ostapenko must have been happy with her performance.
Continuing the same run in Luxembourg, she knocked out Catherine McNally and the top seed Elise Mertens.
Meanwhile, Lottner too is delivering surprises here in the tournament with impressive wins over Tamara Korpatsch and Andrea Petkovic. Ranked in the early 200s, the 23-year-old German has spent the bulk of her season on the ITF tour. The best she has managed is reaching the second round in a few WTA events, up until now.
For this match, Ostapenko will be expected to win comfortably and reach the semifinal.
