Stefanos Tsitsipas v Taylor Fritz Head to Head

This will be a first-ever meeting on tour between these two players, but they did meet at the Laver Cup a few weeks ago where Tsitsipas triumphed in a third set 10-point tiebreak.

Tsitsipas Could Be A Surprise Package This Week

Sitting comfortably at No.7 in the world rankings and already qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals, it is fair to say Stefanos Tsitsipas will be under no pressure whatsoever to perform at the final Masters 1000 on the calendar.

The young Greek enjoyed a breakout season in 2018 when he reached the finals of the Barcelona Open and Rogers Cup, as well as winning his maiden title in Stockholm. However, it was his stunning upset of then defending Australian Open champion Roger Federer in January this year which catapulted him to widespread attention.

That victory over the great Swiss served as a springboard for what would eventually turn out to be his career-best season. He would win two more ATP titles and finish runner-up on three occasions. With the previous two champions of the Paris Masters being first-time Masters 1000 winners, it is not beyond Tsitsipas’ to join that list.

Fritz Shocked Zverev In Basel

Tsitsipas might have the upper hand in ranking and form in this contest, but big hitting American Taylor Fritz is a man capable of dishing out a surprise early defeat to the World no.7

A week ago in Basel, Fritz beat Alexander Zverev in straight sets to delay his London qualification hopes. It was a performance and result that raised a few eyebrows not because Zverev faltered badly, but rather how the 22-year-old American played with such distinction despite being in his worst run of form all year.

Fritz, like Tsitsipas, has had a hugely successful season by his standards. He won his maiden ATP tour title on the lawns of Eastbourne and reached back-to-back finals in Atlanta and Los Cabos.

But since finishing runner-up in those aforementioned two events, he struggled for match-wins and consistency during the American and Asian swings.

Stefanos Tsitsipas v Taylor Fritz Predictions & Tips

Fritz can be a very pesky customer especially on hard courts. He pushed Tsitsipas hard at the Laver Cup and he certainly has the firepower to unsettle the Greek yet again. But Tsitsipas is playing with such poise and less pressure and he should have enough in his locker to win here.

Tip: Tsitsipas to win in straight sets: 10/11 at 888Sport
