Stefanos Tsitsipas v Alex de Minaur Head to Head
The pair have played each other twice before, with both matches coming last year, and Tsitsipas winning on each occasion. Their first match was at the Tokyo Open where Tsitsipas won in three sets, and that was followed by an encounter at the Next Gen ATP Finals in Italy which went to four sets.
Tsitsipas, Looking for Strong End to the Year
Like his opponent on Thursday, Tsitsipas can look back on a highly successful year, winning two titles in Marseille and Estoril, and reaching another two finals, in Madrid, and Beijing. On top of that, on the credit side of the ledger, he can point to semi-final appearances at the Australian Open, in the Masters events in Dubai and Shanghai, and at the Washington Open.
He also made the last four in Basel last week where, like de Minaur, he lost when he ran into Roger Federer at his imperious best.
Now he is looking for a final flourish to the year, here in Paris, and, in two weeks’ time, when he will make his debut at the season-ending ATP finals in London.
He got his campaign here off to a reasonably comfortable start on Wednesday, beating the American Taylor Fritz in straight sets, taking the first on a tie-break and securing a break of serve in the second to clinch the match.

De Minaur Has Had an Unforgettable 2019
If 2018 was a breakthrough year for the young Australian, who reached two finals then, 2019 has surpassed that in every respect. He has reached four finals, and three times ended up as a winner – in Sydney in January, in Atlanta in July, and then again in Zhuhai in September.
The only time he fell short in a final was last weekend in Basel, when he found Roger Federer, playing in front of his home crowd, too big a challenge to surmount.
In the process, he has rocketed up the world rankings and is now number 18 in the standing.
That means that his victory over Robert Bautista-Agut in two tight sets in the second round on Wednesday is no longer the big surprise that it might have been at the start of the year. Now tennis fans are beginning to expect to see De Minaur’s name amongst those contesting the latter stages of tournaments.
Tsitsipas v De Minaur Predictions & Tips
Tsitsipas is the obvious favourite to win this match but in reality this is a very hard match to predict between two of the coming men of the sport, who can be expected to have a big part to play in 2020. The Greek is the older by a year, and that extra experience may just count in the end.
Tip: Tsitsipas to win in three sets: 3/1 at 888Sport
