Giles Simon v Jeremy Chardy Predictions & Preview
In a clash of French veterans Giles Simon and Jeremy Chardy clash for the seventh time in their career. Although Simon leads the head-to-head 4-2, Chardy has won their last two encounters on the hard courts of the Masters 1000s in Miami and Paris.
Both players have been on tour for the last decade and their tennis has seen better days. While Chardy was ranked as high as number 25 in the world, Simon was ranked in the top ten of the ATP rankings. The players are currently ranked just outside the top 50 in the world.
Simon and Chardy had their ups and downs in 2019, with Chardy taking out in-form hot favorite Daniil Medvedev in the ATP Masters 1000 in Paris and Simon being a finalist at the ATP 500 in Queens, at the back of two titles in 2018.
Another interesting clash between two compatriots and friends, expect the all-round game of Simon to prevail on the courts Down Under in three sets.

Daniel Evans v Juan Ignacio Londero Predictions & Preview
Britain’s number one player Daniel Evans plays Argentinian Juan Ignacio Londero for the first time, in their Adelaide International opener.
The ‘Bad Boy of British Tennis’ was ranked outside the top 500 in the world at the start of 2019. A good season with a finals showing at the Delray Beach Open and consistent performances elsewhere saw him move up as high as number 42 in the world.
The marquee single handed backhand was on full display in the season opener at the ATP Cup this past week as he led Great Britain to the quarter-finals with a spirited display that will move up to as high as number 31 in the world next week.
50th ranked Argentine Juan Ignacio Londero was on the tour for a few years, but won his first ever tour level match at the Cordoba Open last February. Incidentally, he went on to win the title as well and followed it up with a runner-up showing on the clay in Sweden.
A hard-hitting stroke-display on the cards, but on current form, Evans should prevail in straight sets.

Lloyd Harris v Cristain Garin Predictions & Preview
Upcoming star Lloyd Harris and Cristain Garin meet for the first time in their career, at the Adelaide International.
Both players started their season at the ATP Cup this past week and despite being in the same group did not get to play each other. While the number two ranked South African had better results than the Chilean, Garin was up against stiffer opposition of the likes of Novak Djokovic, Kevin Anderson and Gael Monfils.
Garin is coming off a good season winning two titles in 2019, both on the slower clay surfaces and moving up to just outside the top 30 in the ATP ranking.
On the other hand, little known South African Lloyd Harris sprung on the scene in his Wimbledon opener against Roger Federer winning the first set before the Swiss maestro took control of proceedings. Harris met with success on the ATP Challenger and ITF Futures tours and is looking to establish himself on the ATP tour now, having broken into the top 100 of the world rankings.
A clash between Harris’s big serving game and Garin’s all round consistent stroke play makes for an exciting encounter. This could go down to a deciding set with Garin prevailing.

Sam Querrey v Gregoire Barrere Predictions & Preview
Veteran American Sam Querrery begins his 2020 season with his first ever meeting against young Frenchman Gregoire Barrere.
Once ranked just outside the top ten in the world in 2017, American Sam Querrey has seen a drop in form and rankings in recent times. The 45th ranked American started his season at the exhibition Hawaii Open where he was the tournament winner.
With a big serve and strong forehand, Querrey will be looking to erase the poor form of the last season and a half and set stage for a better 2020, with a good performance here in Adelaide.
Qualifier Gregoire Barrere has been on the tour since 2016, after competing on the Challengers and ITF Futures tours, but only broke into the top 100 in the rankings in 2019. A qualifier here in Adelaide, the Frenchman won his qualifiers convincingly and will look to provide a formidable challenge to Querrey.
Although Querrey seems the obvious favorite, the American has been out of form of late and appeared rusty in the latter stages of 2019. He will look to carry his form from the exhibition Hawaii Open forward and use his experience to win this encounter.
Expect the big serve and experience of the American to prevail in two close sets.
