Jannik Sinner v Benoit Paire Predictions & Preview
This is the first meeting between veteran Frenchman Benoit Paire and Next Gen Italian teenager Jannik Sinner.
2019 was an important season for both players for different reasons.
Veteran Paire who has been on the circuit for a considerable period of time had an inconsistent last few years going into 2019. However, the 2019 season was a good one for the Frechman, winning two ATP titles and returning to just outside the top 20 in the world.
The 2020 season was off to an indifferent start for Paire, as he was unable to take France past the group stages of the inaugural ATP Cup. The Frenchman will be hoping for a good run in Auckland going into the first major of the year, the following week.
Teenager Jannik Sinner burst onto the scene in late 2019, making the semi-finals of the European Open in Antwerp and following it up with a sensational showing at the ATP Next Gen Finals in Milan to win the title.
A promising young player, Sinner will be looking to carry his form into the new season and get his Auckland campaign off to a strong start.
Expect an exciting encounter with some scintillating shot making. However, Paire’s experience should prevail and he will make the next round, in a three- setter.
Tip: Paire to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)

Frances Tiafoe v Mikail Ymer Predictions & Preview
Frances Tiafoe and Mikail Ymer meet for the second time in their career in the first round of the ASB Classic. The players met in the group stages of the ATP Next Gen Finals in 2019 in Milan with Tiafoe winning in straight sets.
After plenty of promise as a teenager, the 21-year-old American Tiafoe has not lived up to his billing in recent times. With a Delray Beach title in 2018, and a quarter-final showing at the Australian Open in 2019, the young American promised plenty but the rest of his season was one full of early losses and inconsistent form.
Tiafoe will be looking to get his season off to a good start with a strong showing here in Auckland.
It was a positive 2019 for young Swede Mikail Ymer who has been earmarked by Swedish legend Stefan Edberg as one to watch out for in the future. In his first full season on the main tour, the Swede broke into the top 100 ending the year ranked 76th and the exciting young player promises to better than in 2020.
An exciting clash between the two 21-year-olds, but Tiafoe being relatively more experienced should assist him prevail in straight sets.
Tip: Tiafoe to win in straight sets: 6/4 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)
Ugo Humbert v Casper Ruud Predictions & Preview
In another clash of 21-year-olds, Frenchman Ugo Humbert and Casper Ruud meet for the first time in their careers, in their ASB Classic Opener.
Both players are ranked just outside the top 50 in the world and will be looking to better than in 2020.
2019 was an important year for Casper Ruud. Son of former Norwegian player Christian Ruud, the young and rising player broke into the top 100 of the first time and had a good season making the rounds of 16 and 32 at several ATP tournaments, including the third round of the French Open.
2020 has got off to the right start for Ruud, with him defeating John Isner and Fabio Fognini at the ATP Cup, but Norway’s campaign ended with his loss to Russian Daniil Medvedev.
Young Frenchman Ugo Humbert also broke into the top 100 for the first time in 2019, as well as qualified for the semi-finals of the ATP 250 at Marseille, where he defeated top ranked Borna Coric. He also made the fourth round at Wimbledon where he lost to Novak Djokovic.
Both players failed to go past the round robin stages at the Next Gen Finals in Milan, but will be eagerly looking to get their 2020 season off on the right track.
A fairly even battle on the cards, but Ruud has been in good form in Australia already, and expect him to win in three sets.
Tip: Ruud to win in three sets: 10/3 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)
Lorenzo Sonego v Herbert Hurkacz Predictions & Preview
In another clash of upcoming young talent, Italian Lorenzo Sonego meets Polish Herbert Hurkacz for the first time.
Hard-hitting Italian Sonego is ranked just outside the top 50 in the world and won his first title in 2019 on the grass courts of Antalya just before Wimbledon. He has never been past the second round of a major and will be looking to better that in 2020.
2019 was a promising year for Polish Herbert Hurkacz who broke into the top 40 in the ATP rankings and won his first title at Winston-Salem. His 2020 season has got off to a promising start with victories against Borna Coric, Dominic Thiem, and Diego Schwartzman at the ATP Cup.
Hurkacz has looked in very good form and should win this in straight sets.
Tip: Hurkacz to win in straight sets: 4/5 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)
