Kenin Coming off a Breakthrough Year in 2019
After starting last year outside the top 50 in the world rankings, Kenin reached as high as 12 by the end of it. This phenomenal rise came on the back of three titles she won. Results at the start of the new season have been a mixed bag so far. She won her first-round matches at Adelaide and Brisbane but lost in the second round on both occasions. This will be her third appearance at the Australian Open. Her best showing was last year, where she reached the second round.
Qualifier Trevisan Makes her Grand Slam Debut
After failing at the qualification stage on multiple occasions, the 26-year-old Italian will be playing at the main draw of a Grand Slam event for the first time. She has been impressive in the qualifiers, winning all three of his matches in straight sets. Last year she fell on the final hurdle of the qualifiers losing out in three sets.
The Italian has been a steady operator on the ITF circuit, having won nine titles in her career. She is predominantly a clay court player and plays very few matches on the hard courts. Last year out of the 67 matches she played, only 11 were on the hard courts.

Kenin should progress comfortably to the second round. Trevisan would be really proud of finally making it to the main draw of a Grand Slam. But beating world number 15 would be a challenge too high for her to take on.
