Guido Pella v Gregoire Barrere Predictions & Preview

In what will be the first meeting between Guido Pella and Gregoire Barrere, the two meet in the second round of the 2020 Australian Open on Wednesday. The 25th-ranked Pella won his opening round match against the 308th-ranked John Patrick Smith and while he won in straight sets, he was stretched in the second set.

The tougher test comes now in the form of the 84th-ranked Barrere, who himself needed four sets, three of which went into tie-breakers, to get past Mohamed Safwat of Egypt. Barrere won both his qualifiers at the Doha Open and the Adelaide International to make it to the main draw but then lost both those opening round matches after that.

Pella featured at the ATP Cup where he won two of his four matches, including one against Marin Cilic and while hard court surfaces aren’t his most preferred, he should start off a favourite at this one. To win in either four or five sets though.

Dušan Lajovic v Marc Polmans Predictions & Preview

27th-ranked Dusan Lajovic should not have too much trouble getting past the 133rd-ranked Aussie Marc Polmans when they face off for the first time in their careers in the second round on Wednesday. Polmans, a wild-card entrant, came into the tournament on the back of three successive defeats to open the season, losing in the first round at the Canberra Challenger, first qualifier at the Adelaide International and then a loss at the Kooyong Exhibition.

Which is why when he won his first round match against Mikhail Kukushkin in five sets, it would have come as a big surprise. He was a rank outsider going into that match, 9/5 to win it and went on to clinch the tie. Things will get tougher though, after Lajovic sent Kyle Edmund packing in his opening round match in straight sets.

The 27th-ranked Serb was coming off four wins and two defeats at the ATP Cup, which was an indicator of some form and a win here in the opener should put him as a huge favourite going into this one.

Marton Fucsovics v Jannik Sinner Predictions & Preview

Two unseeded players, Marton Fucsovics and Jannik Sinner could be in for a keen tussle for a place in the third round when they meet on Wednesday. 67th-ranked Fucsovics stunned the Canadian Denis Shapovalov in the first round, needing four sets to get past the world number 13, while Sinner, the winner at the ATP Next Gen tournament last year, wasted no time getting past Max Purcell in the opener.

Sinner will have his hands full though against Fucsovics, who featured at the Doha Open before this and came through the qualifiers to make the quarterfinals in that competition. Because while Sinner is a player to watch out for the future, this was just his first win at this level and Fucsovics has had the experience – he made the fourth round at the 2018 Australian Open.

All in all, this could go the distance, with four or five sets in the match.

Tip: Over 38.5 games in the match: 4/5 (Click here to get these odds with bet365)

Hubert Hurkacz v John Millman Predictions & Preview

Another interesting match-up for a place in the third round. On paper, the world number 31 Hubert Hurkacz starts off a favourite at 4/6 but Millman has played twice against his Polish opponent Hurkacz and won both times. And those matches came on indoor and hard court surfaces respectively.

Hurkacz’s form, however, gives him the edge. He won all his matches at the ATP Cup and then went on to make the semifinal at the Auckland Open. He was stretched to five sets in the first round here but overturned a two set deficit to win his opener and should be a safe bet to win this.

Tip: Hurkacz to win: 4/6 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)
