Here’s some trivia: Roger Federer has never played a tennis match in South Africa. On asked this question, the legendary tennis icon seemed embarrassed and shook his head. South Africa is a special place for Roger Federer because it is where his mother was born.
In reply to the question, he said he honestly did not know why it took so long. He said that it was ‘just not OK’ to have not played in South Africa and he could not live with himself if that did happen.
The exhibition match will be held in Cape Town against his arch-rival Rafael Nadal on Friday. It will be the 6th edition of the Match for Africa series conducted by the Roger Federer Foundation.

The proceedings from the match will be used in the development of education and athletic programs in the country. Nadal had also taken part in the first couple of matches in the series which took place in 2010 in Switzerland and Spain respectively.
Federer had picked up a groin injury during the Australian Open and might not be 100% fit for this match. But he added that he is very excited now since it is happening and is hoping that he will be really fine to play.
The line-up gets even more exciting because, before this ultimate showdown, Federer is set to team up with Bill Gates, the American business Magnate to play against Nadal who teams up with the comedian Trevor Noah.
