Kiki Bertens v Aliaksandra Sasnovich Head to Head
The pair have met four times before, and the current head to head score is two wins apiece. Most recently they met twice in 2018, Sasnovich winning in the second round at Roland Garros, and Bertens clinching victory in the third round in Moscow.
Bertens Leading the Dutch Team
28 year old Bertens had a very successful 2019, reaching five WTA finals and winning two of them, the St. Petersburg Ladies’ Trophy, and the Madrid Open, her first Premier Mandatory title. That propelled her to a career high of four in the world rankings and, although she has slipped a little since then, she is still firmly ensconced in the top ten.
She has also been in one final already this year, the final in Brisbane, where, together with Ashleigh Barty, they lost to the top seeds Hsieh Su-wei and Barbora Strycova. In the singles event at the same tournament, she reached the semi-finals before losing to Naomi Osaka.
She then got to the fourth round in Melbourne for the first time, but lost in straight sets to the Spaniard Garbine Muguruza.
Sasnovich is the Belarus Number Two Player
25 year old Sasnovich, the number two player from Belarus, was ranked as high as 47 in the world just six months ago, but a poor sequence of results in the latter part of the year saw her stumble down the standings to her current standing of 113.
She has never won a senior ATP event, but does have 11 ITF wins to her name, and also has some victories over top ten players on her CV – apart from Bertens, she has beaten Karolina Pliskova, Petra Kvitova, and, last year, Elina Svitolina.
Her form in 2020, though, has not been good so far. She was knocked out in the second round in Shenzen, and having qualified for the Adelaide Open, suffered a first round defeat to Danielle Collins of the USA. She suffered a similar fate in Melbourne, losing in the first round of the Australian Open in three sets to the Belgian Greetje Minnen.
Kiki Bertens v Aliaksandra Sasnovich Predictions & Tips
Despite the fact that their previous head to head meetings have been tied, there is now a gulf between these two women in terms of world rankings, indicating how far Sasnovich’s performances have dropped in recent months. Bertens is in much better form and, with home court and crowd advantage, she should win this match easily for her country.
Tip: Bertens to win in straight sets: 2/3 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)
