Defending Champion Monfils Looking At Another Title
Monfils had a strong 2019, returning to the top ten in the ATP rankings, winning the ATP 500 at Rotterdam and performing consistently through the year. 2020 got off to a fair start for the Frenchman, who made the round of 16 at the Australian Open, before he was defeated by runner-up Dominic Thiem.
Monfils hit good form last week in Montpellier with convincing victories leading him to another ATP title.
Following the Montpellier title, Monfils arrived in Rotterdam as the defending champion and continued his strong run of form winning all his matches in straight sets.
The Frenchman is in another final here at Rotterdam and will fancy his chances at defending his title and winning another title in what has been a good month for him thus far.

Nineteen-year old Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime sprung onto the scene in the last two seasons and has performed remarkably to have reached a career high world number 17 ranking in late 2019. 2019 saw him reach three ATP finals, in Rio, Lyon and the grass courts of Stuttgart.
The young Canadian also recorded impressive wins throughout the year against players of the calibre of Stefanos Tsitsipas, Nick Kyrgios and Grigor Dimitrov among others.
Auger-Aliassime led Canada to the Davis Cup finals and the final eight of the inaugural ATP Cup last month.
After a disappointing Australian Open and an early loss in Montpellier the Canadian has had a much improved week where he recovered well to defeat Jan-Lennard Struff in the opener and then had a convincing win against Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in the next round.
Once in the final eight, Auger-Aliassime recorded convincing wins against Aljaz Bedene and Pablo Carreno Busta to win in straight sets and make the finals, in good form and full of confidence.
With Auger-Aliassime on song and in flow, he will have his eyes on a first ever ATP title this weekend.

This promises to be a very exciting first ever clash between two players with excellent groundstrokes and agility. Both players have been in form and have a lot to play for. There is not much to choose between the two and it is anybody’s match very evenly poised.
