Mikael Ymer v Richard Gasquet Predictions & Preview

55th-ranked Richard Gasquet will be in action in his first round match at the Marseille Open against Sweden’s 74th-ranked Mikael Ymer, with the two having never played before this. 21-year-old Ymer is one of the Next Gen players looking to break into the top 50 at the moment, having entered the season on the back of four Challenger title wins last year.

He went through the qualifiers to made round one at Doha and the second round at Auckland before his joint-career-best performance at a Grand Slam when he won his opener at the Australian Open. The signs look like they are there for him to break through and get himself a longish run in a competition, and the question that now remains is not if, but when.

Up against him is the 33-year-old French veteran Gasquet, who has played just three matches this season. Having struggled through the previous season because of a groin surgery, Gasquet’s first match came at the Montpellier Open last week and he went on to make it to the quarterfinals there. It was an abdominal strain in that match which left him with no choice but to withdraw from the encounter.

His fitness is also why Ymer starts off favourite to win this and we will be backing this talented star to carve out a win here.

Tip: Ymer to win: 8/11 (Click here to get these odds with bet365)

Benoit Paire v Gregoire Barrere Predictions & Preview

In what will be the fourth match between these two, Benoit Paire and Gregoire Barrere will face off in the first round of the Marseille Open on Monday. Paire has won all their previous three meetings, which is a confidence-inducing stat to take into a match like this but apart from that, he will have some thinking to do.

For starters, Paire made an excellent start to the season as he carved out four wins in a row to make it to the final of the Auckland Open where he lost to Ugo Humbert. However, if one thought that was a sign of good things to come, Paire’s form has tapered off for some reason since then.

A second round defeat at the Australian Open, and back to back opening losses at the Pune Open and Rotterdam Open have left him coming into this encounter with a question-mark despite having closed in on his career-best ranking of 19th in the world.

Barrere’s trajectory has been somewhat reverse this year, after scraping through the qualifiers to lose in the first round at Doha and Adelaide before winning his first main draw match in Melbourne. There was a quarterfinal at the Montpellier Open as well, where he shocked Grigor Dimitrov, a win that should keep him in with a chance here. So while Paire starts off 8/11 to win this match, Barrere’s 1/1 sounds a lot more tempting.

That, or the number of games in the match which could be over 22.5.

Marton Fucsovics v Alexander Bublik Predictions & Preview

Two matches played, both have won one apiece. Only trouble with that stat is both those matches came in 2017 at the Challenger circuit and a lot has happened since. However, a look at their rankings and again, there’s not much to choose between them with Fucsovics at 66th just 10 places behind Bublik.

That said, Fucsovics has had a season to remember already. After a strong performance at the Doha Open where he made it to the quarterfinal as a qualifier, the Hungarian stormed into the fourth round at the Australian Open – his best Grand Slam showing by some distance – and even managed to take a set off Roger Federer.

Fucsovics, as a result, should start a favourite against Bublik, who hasn’t yet managed to string together two wins in a row this year. Most of his wins have been scratchy as well and this should be an easy one for Fucsovics as a result.

Tip: Fucsovics to win in straight sets: 5/4 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)
