David Goffin v Egor Gerasimov Head to Head

The pair have never met each other on the tour. This will be the first-ever meeting between the 29-year-old Belgian and the 28-year-old Belarusian.

Goffin Coming off a Disappointing Loss at Rotterdam

The 29-year-old was the fourth seed at Rotterdam last week but fell in the second round to Jannik Sinner. That loss would have stung him, even more, considering that Gael Monfils was the only higher seed remaining in the tournament post that round who did eventually went on to win the tournament. This week, Goffin is the third seed in Marseille and would be desperate to break his two-year wait to win a title.

The Belgian’s journey in the last couple of years has been up and down. He was the ATP Tour Finals runners-up in 2017 and was as high as number seven in the world rankings. Last year he made it to the last eight at the Wimbledon and reached the finals of an ATP 500 & Masters 1000 event as well. But he also suffered some injuries and loss of form during the same period and saw his ranking drop to as low as 30 in this period.

This year he started well with a good run at the ATP cup where he beat Rafael Nadal. But he has crashed out in midway in all three tournaments since after a bright start in the early rounds. This is the sixth time he is taking part in this event and last year he reached the semi-finals.

Gerasimov Almost Won His Maiden Title at Pune

Somewhat of a late bloomer, the 27-year-old Belarusian has played close to 600 matches since turning pro. But it took him till last year to break into the top 100 in the rankings on the back of impressive performances at Saint Petersburg and Moscow.

He started the season with a second-round appearance at the Australian Open before almost winning his maiden title at Pune. He went down in the finals in a tight contest against Jiri Vesely.

This week he has started his journey from the qualifying rounds. Last year he crashed out of the first round itself in the event. Having reached the second round this year, he is surely going to achieve his new career-best ranking when the new set is released.

David Goffin v Egor Gerasimov Predictions & Tips

Gerasimov is a dangerous player and has shown some good form this month. But Goffin will not like to repeat what happened in Rotterdam. He has too much quality to be troubled by the Belarusian and should progress comfortably.

Tip: Goffin to win in straight sets: 11/10 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)
