Novak Djokovic v Stefanos Tsitsipas Head to Head
This is the fifth meeting between these players. The head-to-head is tied at 2-2. All their meetings have been at the Masters 1000s, with Tsitsipas winning in Toronto ’18 and Shanghai ’19, and Djokovic winning in Madrid and Paris in 2019.

Four-time Dubai Open champion Novak Djokovic saved three match points to avoid a straight set loss in the semi-finals against Gael Monfils, eventually winning in three sets.
Djokovic, who had a 16-0 record in 2020 and a 16-0 record against Monfils, looked in stellar form all week. However, he was up against Monfils, who himself has been on a bit of a run, winning titles at Montpelier, and Rotterdam, in addition to making the semi-finals here in Dubai.
The Frenchman broke Djokovic twice in the opening set to wrap up at 6-2 and was then up a break early in the second. However, Djokovic broke back to level the set at 3-3, and after some anxious serving games for Monfils at 4-5 and 5-6, where he saved plenty of set points, the second set went into a tiebreak.
Monfils looked the better player at the beginning of the tie-break as he had three match points and was up serving at 6-3 in the breaker. However, a mix of forced and unforced errors from Monfils saw Djokovic equalizing at 6-6 and eventually a Monfils double fault giving the Serb the set 10-8 in the tiebreak.
A worn out Monfils did not look the same player in the final set, with his movements hampered, and the world number one extended his streaks to 17-0, winning the final set 6-1.
Djokovic has had a phenomenal start to 2020, leading Team Serbia to victory in the inaugural ATP Cup Down Under, and following it with a record extending eighth Australian Open title defeating Dominic Thiem in a classic five-setter to win the final. The Serb also recaptured the world number one ranking from arch rival Rafael Nadal as a result.
The top seed plays Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final, who was runner-up at Dubai last year, and won the title at Marseille last week, and has been in good form all week here as well.

Tsitsipas Looking To Better Dubai 2019
Stefanos Tsitsipas ended last season in prime form, as he was the winner of the year-end ATP Tour Finals. He came into the 2020 season with lofty expectations, but the season did not get off to the best of starts for him.
His performance at the ATP Cup was far from optimal and it was followed by the Australian Open, where he faced an early loss against Milos Raonic. In addition, after recovering recovering from a set and a break down in his opener against Hubert Hurkacz in Rotterdam, Tsitsipas lost in straight sets to an unexpected opponent in Aljaz Bedene.
Tsitsipas has since however hit a good run, defending his title last week at Marseille without dropping a set and making the final here this week in Dubai again. The Greek was runner-up last year at Dubai, losing the final to Roger Federer and given the form he has been in recent matches, will fancy his chances at doing one better this year.
The second seed looked in excellent form in the semi-finals, with a straight sets win against Daniel Evans of Britain, who himself has been in good form over the last two months.

Djokovic and Tsitsipas have already had some close battles, and expect this one to be no less. Djokovic has been consistently strong since the start of the season, and Tsitsipas is looking better with every passing match.
While this will be down to a point here and there, Djokovic is coming off of a pulsating semi-final , andTsitipas had it a lot easier and shorter. If there is anyone who can negate impact of any strain and tiredness, it is definitely Djokovic.
Tsitsipas will look to make the most of his form, and can be expected to put up an aggressive performance on Saturday, and may just scrape through for the title in a decider.
