Australia’s Nick Kyrgios will join Marin Cilic in the Queen’s Club Tennis Championships this year.
Kyrgios, who reached the fourth round at the Australian Open earlier this year before losing to Rafael Nadal, has played in only one match since that Grand Slam exit. Cilic, former world number three, also made the fourth round at the Australian Open but has generally struggled for form in recent times.
Among others who are expected to feature at this tournament include Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas, other than the defending champion Feliciano Lopez, who had won the title last year. Andy Murray could be given a wild-card too if he can get fit in time for the grass swing.

Kyrgios has had a history of altercations at the Queen’s Tennis Championships. In the 2019 edition of the tournament he was penalised £13,766 following a verbal spat which included accusations against a line judge of “rigging the game”. He was also involved in mocking the chair umpire, following which he warned he would walk away from the match and then smashed a ball outside the stadium.
In the 2018 edition of this competition, he was fined a similar amount following lewd gestures using the water bottle.
Following a number of incidents, he was given a suspended 16-week suspension along with a fine of $25,000 for his on-court shenanigans.

Things have been way better since his return though with Kyrgios becoming one of the first players to donate money for the Australian bush-fire cause. However, more recently, he took on the crowd at the Acapulco Open who booed him off the court following his retirement from his opening round match.
Kyrgios retired from the match after losing the first set to Ugo Humbert having struggled with a shoulder injury earlier.
When asked about the incident in the interview, Kyrgios had said “give a f***” about the disrespect shown by the crowds.
