John Millman is famous for being that player who knocked Roger Federer out at the 2018 US Open but his career overall has been up and down. All information on John Millman’s racquet can be found below.
Australian Millman kick-started his pro career with a Futures title win in 2008 and 2009 and then found success at the Challenger level when he lifted his first of those trophies at the Sacramento Challenger in 2010.
However, qualification for the main draw of Grand Slams continued to elude him till 2013 when he was awarded a wildcard into the Australian Open. He lost a five-setter in the opening round.
An injury in 2013 meant he didn’t participate in any of the remaining Grand Slams and even in 2014, didn’t have enough points to make it to any majors’ qualifier.
2015 became Millman’s first year in which he played in all four Grand Slams, which included his first ever main draw win at a major when he defeated Tommy Robredo in the first round in straight sets.
Victories over Gilles Muller and Diego Schwartzman pushed him to the third round of the 2016 Australian Open and he then defeated Benoit Paire to enter the third round at Wimbledon that very year.
Millman’s best Grand Slam performance came at the 2018 US Open when he made it to the quarterfinals, a run which included wins over Fabio Fognini (check Fognini’s racquet specs here) and Federer. That Federer victory was his first against a top-10 opposition.
In the meantime, Millman also made it to his maiden ATP final, losing to Marco Cecchinato at the Hungarian Open title-decider. He repeated that in 2019 when he overcame Reilly Opelka in the semifinal before going down to Novak Djokovic in the final.
The Aussie had a chance to double his shock result count over Federer at the 2020 Australian Open when he led the maestro 8-4 in the final set tie-breaker. However, Federer came back to win six points in a row to edge out the Aussie.
Millman’s popularity among fans has been well-documented, with the Aussie often distributing cold-drinks at the end of his match. That is also why many love to know his tennis racquet specifications and the details about the same are mentioned below.
