Filip Krajinovic v Salvatore Caruso Head to Head
There has been one match played between these two players before this and Krajinovic won that in the final of the Biella Challenger in 2017. That competition was held in clay.

Krajinovic Showed Early Season Form
While Krajinovic is yet to win an ATP title in his career so far, the Serb has shown some good form this year. While he started off with a couple of second round losses, at the Qatar Open and Australian Open (to Roger Federer), he followed that up with back to back semifinal appearances in Montpellier and Rotterdam.
In both the tournaments, Krajinovic won his three rounds in straight sets before losing to Gael Monfils. And not before he had stretched Monfils. Players like Mikael Ymer and Andrey Rublev were beaten in that tournament.
Rublev had his revenge in the last ATP tournament Krajinovic played in Dubai before this one but in the tennis break due to the pandemic, he played like a player to watch out. At the Eastern European Championship, he won seven matches in a row to prepare himself for the start of this season.
There’s an obvious catch; the Serb is more of a clay-court specialist than hard courts and that could be a factor here.

Caruso Stuns Sinner, Thompson to Make Main Draw
The last time Caruso won two matches in a row was in the Adelaide International qualifiers but then lost in the first round of the tournament. Since then he hasn’t had that opportunity, with a second round appearance at the Pune Open and another second round showing at Santiago being his best results this season.
While the two matches he won here were again in qualifiers, one shouldn’t underestimate the quality of those victories.
In Jannik Sinner, he had a 73rd-ranked opponent for starters and then faced Jordan Thompson, a 64th-ranked Aussie. He was a set down in the first round of qualifier and from there on, Caruso won four sets in a row to make it to the main draw.
Interestingly, Caruso is a doubles specialist, having reached the final of the Rio Open earlier this year partnering Federico Gaio.
Filip Krajinovic v Salvatore Caruso Prediction & Tip
Krajinovic, despite preferring clay play, will be a favourite here to win this, starting out at 3/10. We will go with the games handicap for better returns since we think Krajinovic might not be stretched too much here.
Tip: Games Handicap Krajinovic -3.5: 4/6 (bet365)
