Shelby Rogers v Madison Brengle Head to Head
There have been three meetings between them before this and Brengle has won twice while Rogers did it once. Two of those matches came at the ITF circuit, both of which were played on clay courts, and it is 1-1 there. Their third meeting came in the 2014 Australian Open qualifiers where Brengle won in straight sets.

Rogers Stuns Rybakina
A French Open quarterfinalist, Rogers has now made the US Open third round on three separate occasions and lost each time. This is a very good chance to break that run and move forward, in turn earning valuable WTA rankings points which should help her bring her world ranking of 95 down.
And in order to do that, she has had to beat Elena Rybakina, one of the players we considered a dark horse expected to go deep into the second week. After all Rybakina had made four WTA finals this year already.
Rogers was always on the top of their match though. She had the early break and while Rybakina broke to level the scores from 2-5 down, the American was in no mood to let off and finished off the opening set 7-5.
And in the second set, Rogers broke Rybakina two more times without reply to take the set and match easily.
Now she faces a fellow American in the next round, who is in somewhat of a similar boat as her.

And Brengle Shocks Yastremska!
When the draws were announced, long odds would have been given to those expecting Rogers taking on Brengle in the third round. And the reason is simple – if Rogers needed to get past Rybakina, Brengle had an even tougher task of needing to beat Yastremska in round two.
And she did it in straight sets, much like Rogers. Brengle won 6-2, 6-3 against Yastremska, the 19th seed, having broken her six times in the match. While Brengle lost her own serve thrice, her composed play led to just 15 unforced errors as compared to her opponent’s 43 and that’s also where the American scored over her opponent.
Interestingly, like her third round opponent, Brengle has never made the fourth round at the US Open either, so a lot is at stake for her as well. Where Brengle has an edge over Rogers is, she has won a title this season, at the Newport Beach Open, a Challenger-level tournament for women.
Rogers v Brengle Prediction & Tip
While Rogers is 1/2 to win this, I wouldn’t be too averse to looking at 13/8 for Brengle’s win.
