To begin with, we have the defending champion Alison Van Uytvanck, who most recently played in the Canadian Open and lost in the second round to Ashleigh Barty.

It is quite likely that she will be back in Quebec to defend her title and considering some of the participants, she is likely to face a tough challenge.
The 20-year old Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka is bound to be one of the main contenders for the National Bank Cup 2018. She has had a remarkable season so far, having emerged as the runner-up in WTA Lugano and WTA Eastbourne.
She has already defeated many prominent players this season – Caroline Wozniacki, Agnieszka Radwanska, Elise Mertens, and Karolina Pliskova. However, she lacks consistency for the time being and this is one area that the youngster will be working on.
We may also see the veteran Czech doubles player Lucie Safarova participate in the WTA Quebec City 2018. Even though she is considerably experienced, she lacks the momentum required to make an impact on the tour.
Right before the U.S Open, she played in the Rogers Cup, where she lost in the second round to Julia Goerges as a qualifier. Other players who may participate in the tournament are Katie Boulter, Christina McHale, and Monica Niculescu.
