Andrey Rublev v Kevin Anderson Head to Head
In their only previous meeting Anderson had with Rublev, the South African had beaten her at the 2015 US Open in four sets. It came in the first round.

Rublev Gets Himself Another Win
Since losing in the second round at the Rome Masters, Rublev hasn’t lost another. He has faced dire situations, sure, but has found ways to get out of them, carving out seven wins in a row including a title last week at Strasbourg.
While some would have thought Rublev to be a hard-court specialist, his performance last week and then again in these first two rounds have been an eye-opener.
Then again, those who have watched him play on the lower circuits would know Rublev’s first ever tournament win came in a Futures tournament on clay. Less than 12 months later, he doubled that tally before hard court tennis proved to be a bigger calling for the Russian.
In the first round here against Sam Querrey things looked like they were headed towards the American but from two sets down, Rublev grabbed the next three 7-5, 6-4, 6-3 to make the second round. And then in the second, he needed four sets to make it past Alejandro Fokina. Now he has the experience of Kevin Anderson to face.

Is the Needle Finally Moving for Anderson?
Anderson has faced two Serbs in the tournament so far and beaten them both. More importantly, these two victories represent his first two successive wins in a knock-out tournament since the 2019 Wimbledon where he had reached the third round.
The South African lost to Guido Pella in that match and then opted out of the rest of the season to treat his injured knee. His return earlier this year was a sound one when he won a couple of matches at the ATP Cup, but since then he had won just two matches before this French Open – at the Australian Open and at the Cincinnati Masters.
On a four-match losing streak before the start of this final Grand Slam of the season, he first defeated Laslo Djere in straight sets but his real test was going to come against Dusan Lajovic. And he passed that, albeit in a close match, when he thwarted an attempted comeback from Lajovic to win in five, 6-2, 6-4, 4-6, 3-6, 6-3.
Rublev, however, will be a different cup of tea altogether.
Rublev v Anderson Prediction and Tip
Anderson’s game is technically not the most suited for clay but he has made it to the fourth round at the French Open on four previous occasions. Rublev should still edge it but Anderson has the tenacity to eke out a set.
Tip: Rublev to win AND Both players to win a set: 6/4 (bet365)
